When Queenslander Ian ‘Powerhouse’ Jacobs rewrote the kickboxing history books last week he was fighting…
Is there no stopping Andrew Keogh?

Congratulations must first be given to Jamie Tozeland and his team at Hammer
Muay Thai for the great fights we watched.
With an inside air temp of around 16 - 20 degrees and rain outside, it was
cold at Cararra Stadium for the crowd. The fighters however didn’t let the
cold dampen their spirits, it may have played a part however in the 3 KO’s
we witnessed on the night.
..Is there no stopping Andrew Keogh?..
With the main event being a titled a “ REVENGE” match, both Frank Giorgi
from United Fight Gym - Red Corner and our Powerhouse champ Andrew “KO”
Keogh - Blue Corner, were going to give it everything they had.
Fighting full Thai rules and 5 x 3 min rounds with 2 min breaks in cold
conditions this fight was going to be tough from the start for both
fighters.
Backing up from his recent South Pacific Title Win, Andrew put in weeks of
tireless training that include a couple of days of illness in the last 2
weeks.
Andrew, as is his usual style, was calm, relaxed and focused in the hour or
so before his fight. Chilling out with his sponsors from STAUNCH and
closest friends who’d come to support him, and going through the usual
physical drills out in the dressing rooms with his trainer Ian Jacobs and
cornermen Shaggy and Aaron Smith. Andrew seemed unphased and was simply
enjoying his night.
Both fighters showed intense stamina and strength in the first 3 rounds with
Ian reminding Andrew at the 3rd break he needed to step it up to win
outright. Andrew laughed with me a few days later in the gym when I asked
what Ian had said to him in the third break. He said he was too scared of
Ian to have not stepped it up and simply didn’t want to go back and face him
in the fourth break had he not.
Step it up he did, landing intense punches and kicks when it mattered and
winning the fight unanimously
The final score card was
48 48 Draw..........48 47 Blue..........49 47 Blue......( I hope I wrote all
that down right… .. ...)
Fighting for S.A.F.E and afterwards thanking his trainer Ian, sponsors
STAUNCH, friends, and Frank Giorgi, Andrew was the true gentleman humble and
proud.....A true champion inside and out.
